CampMed at UCI is a student-run high school outreach program that was founded by UCI medical and undergraduate students in 1997. Our mission statement is to ASPIRE TO INSPIRE students who face low socioeconomic barriers to pursue higher education by providing exposure to undergraduate mentors, UC Irvine faculty, as well as healthcare professionals. Currently in its 26th year of existence, CampMed at UCI has reached over 5,000 high school students from Los Angeles and Orange County schools. 

Mentorships

As a counselor, you will have the opportunity to directly mentor high school students and provide them with guidance in achieving their future goals. 

camp

CampMed provides a group of high school students with a 3 day camp completely free of charge where they will have the opportunity to learn about a number of careers within the health care field! You will assist in fundraising for camp as well as, creating group unity during camp, and provide opportunities for each camper to experience overall success.

Requirements

Ability to relate to one’s peer group and work well with people with different and diverse backgrounds

Be a student at the

University of California, Irvine

Ability to accept supervision, guidance, and constructive

feedback

Maintain own GPA while maintaining and balancing CampMed activities and events

Desire and ability to work

with high school students

Be able to pay a one-time membership fee of $75

Reach individual fundraising goal 
    

Attend weekly CampMed Counselor Meetings from

8:00 PM- 10:00 PM 
    

Attend virtual CampMed Events including mentorship sessions, fundraisers, high school
workshops, etc.
